In the world of Triathlon wetsuits, the 2XU Project X range could well be the highest performance specification and highest rated. The current garments include very specific innovations, such as foam panel inserts to raise body position, special hydrodynamic coating to increase buoyancy and a series of special panels positioned around crucial high-movement parts of the body. Some of these use thinner neoprene to increase flexibility where rapid, easy movement is essential.
All the design features are aimed at giving top triathletes maximum speed through the water and the Project X suits are available in 16 sizes to give optimum fit.
Key features are the inclusion of seamless buoyancy inserts in the front panel and stretch panels in the intermediate zones to help with fluid movement.
This high specification wetsuit features most of the essential performance design that 2XU are known for, such as the use of their Nano SCS coating and lower leg propulsion panels for better leg kick power. The 2XU Velocity range also includes seam overlays in its transition panels and is available like in 16 sizes, like other wetsuit ranges.
At this level, you also get technology incorporated like Velocity Strakes on the body area and water entrapment zones on the forearms to improve hydrodynamics and hence more stable and faster forward motion.
A mid-priced option with most of the basic 2XU features including the core SCS hydrodynamic coating, seamless arm and shoulder panels (1.5mm) for greater flexibility and a lining that will stretch over 500%, lowering lateral resistance to movement. The 2XU R3 race series of wetsuits also incorporates a 4.5mm front buoyancy panel, water entrapment zones on the arms, floating zip panels and velocity strakes for speedy movement through the water.
This is the entry level wetsuit from 2XU, currently the Z1, using Yamamoto neoprene to give a practical high performance wetsuit without the expense of high end specifications. However, some top technology is still included, such as velocity strakes, a front buoyancy panel and concave water entrapment zones.
